MEET THE TAVERNERS

Who Are We?

Formed in 1967 the Toft Taverners charity XI play sponsored matches every Thursday evening during the summer. They are a mixed ability team, across a wide age group, who all enjoy a fun game of sociable cricket, in excellent surroundings, whilst raising money for local events and charitable organisations.

Since they were formed, 'The Tavs' have raised in excess of £250,000 all of which has been used to benefit the Knutsford community.

Our Aim

The Taverners exist to raise money for events and charities in and around the local area. The funds are raised via opposition sponsorship to play in a match against the Taverners, 'fines' levied for cricketing excellence (or otherwise!) and through the regular matchday raffles. All monies taken are given back to the community.

The main purpose, is to raise enough funds to finance the annual Knutsford over 70’s coach trip to Lytham St Annes. In 2022, over 170 places were filled, with everyone enjoying lunch with entertainment provided, a stroll along the prom, tea, and a raffle. The Taverners event diary is here: charitable events diary

Other organisations that have recently benefitted from Taverners donations have included the Knutsford District Scouts, Girl Guides, Knutsford Community Transport Association, Cheshire Without Abuse, Hope Central Food Bank, Knutsford May Day, over 60's fitness classes at Royce Court and the British Heart Foundation to name a few.

Our Season

The Taverners always play their games at Toft CC, and typically begin their cricketing season in late April, playing every Thursday evening until mid-September.

Get Involved

We are always looking for new members of any ability to play in a fun environment followed by the usual fines, food and beer to ensure the nights are always memorable.
